Lancaster is an outer ring suburb of Buffalo, NY with a total area of 37.93 square miles and a population of 43,477. The town is located 14 miles east of the city’s downtown area and contains a number of smaller communities, such as Bowmansville, Dellwood, and East Lancaster. It has grown rapidly since the early 1990s, though a good portion of its eastern area beyond County Route 242 remains largely undeveloped. The town’s high school is the largest school in all of Erie County in terms of both the number of students and square footage. Lancaster is also home to the county’s oldest standing stone structure, the famous Warren Hull House built in 1810.
